Smell proof jars

For what is worth keeping properly.

Smell proof jars from Terp Seals, in glass and in stainless steel. The lid pumps the air out and holds a vacuum: air stays out and smell stays in. The Glass Jar shows what is inside. The XL is the large one. The Inox Jar is stainless steel: no light gets through, and it survives a bag.

Why airtight matters. Dried herbs, tea and coffee lose their smell to air and light. A jar that seals slows that down. A jar that only closes does not.

Smart Seals is the divider that splits one jar into two labelled sections. The Cover Jar sleeve stops the jar scuffing in a bag.

Buy the jar once. Everything here ships from Spain and reaches most of the EU in 2 to 4 days.

What makes a jar smell proof

A smell proof jar does two things: it keeps air out and it keeps smell in. Both depend on the seal, not the lid. A clip lid with a thin rubber ring closes; a thick silicone O-ring under pressure seals.

Terp Seals goes one step further. The lid pumps the air out, holds a vacuum and puts it back if pressure creeps in. Coffee, loose tea, spices and dried herbs keep their smell for longer when there is no air to carry it off.

Airtight glass jar or stainless steel

Glass shows you what is inside and how much is left. Stainless steel lets in no light at all and does not break when dropped. Light fades colour and aroma just as air does, so if a jar sits on an open shelf in the sun, steel wins.

The display on the lid

Every Terp Seals jar shows humidity, temperature and how many days it has been closed, and charges over USB-C. Useful for coffee beans and tea, where you want to know how old the batch is without writing it on tape.

Spare parts and add-ons

Jars last; parts wear. The Smart Seals divider splits one jar into labelled sections, so two contents share one lid. The jar cover takes the knocks in a bag. Terp Seals also sells the seal and the XL valve as spares.

Questions

Is an airtight jar the same as a smell proof jar?
Not always. Airtight means air cannot get in. Smell proof also needs a seal tight enough to keep smell from getting out. A vacuum seal does both.
Glass or steel?
Glass to see inside. Steel to keep light out and to carry it.
Does the vacuum need charging?
Yes, over USB-C. The display shows when it needs it.
What can I store in them?
Coffee, loose tea, spices, dried herbs: anything that loses its smell to air.
Where do you ship from?
From Spain, to most of the EU in 2 to 4 days.
